How to Apply- SME Customs Grant

Falsum have created a handy summary on how to apply for up to £2,000 to support SMEs through HMRC's SME Customs Support Grant. The Grant can help you access Falsum's expert Customs & Trade training and advisory.

HMRC have announced grants of up to £2,000 to support SMEs to meet the costs of training and/or professional advice to deal with disruption due to Brexit.

Falsum have created a handy summary on how to apply for the SME grant & help your business access the professional Customs & Global Trade advice you need:

1. Register for a Grant Account

Firstly, you will need to register for a Grant account on the Customs Intermediary Grant website (link).

Before you begin your application, you will need to have the following information to hand:

  • The contact details of a business-approved Person
  • Your Business' Companies House, VAT & EORI Registration(s)
  • Your registered office address
  • Details of the grant you wish to apply under (Training or Professional Services)
  • Details of any previous Grants requested under the Customs Intermediary Grant fund (if applicable)

2. Provide your business details

Next, you will need to details of your Grant request and the positive impact any award may have on your business.

3. Book your free Falsum Consultation

You can register your interest with Falsum's Global Trade * Customs Advisory or Training services using the handy online Form, below:

The Form will also register your interest in the SME Customs Grant and identify the areas of your business that may need assistance (estimated time: 3 minutes).

Falsum will support you every step of the way.

4. Provide Supporting Documentation

To submit your Grant application, you will need to provide supporting evidence for the Grant amount you are claiming, provided by your preferred supplier.

The supporting evidence can be a commercial document that clearly states the name of the supplier, their business address, the services requested & the cost.

Attach your Estimate, Quote, or Pro-forma Invoice in the 'Attachments' element.

Finally, click the 'Submit for approval' button in the top-right corner.

Your SME Customs Grant has gone for appraisal!

5. Develop your Customs Knowledge

This is the hard but rewarding part.

6. Claim Your Grant Award

Once HMRC & PwC approve your Grant request, you will need to claim the Grant Offer ("GO") through the online platform using the Invoice for Falsum's services.

Click 'Submit a Claim' on your Account home screen. Attach your supporting evidence and HMRC will process the claim within 30 working days.
